Brief description : This report was produced following the evaluation of the Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) approach implemented in the Central African Republic from 2013 to 2018. The program, funded by the Dutch government, aimed to put an end to Open-air Defecation (OD) in the target areas of the country, while raising awareness and improving people's access to hygiene and sanitation facilities. The program was included in the AERCA project, carried out over five years (January 2013 to March 2018) in four provinces in the southwest of the Central African Republic, namely Lobaye, Mambere-Kadei, Sangha-Mbaere and Ombella Mpoko. A total of 601 villages have been certified as Open-air Defecation Free (ODF) for 600 planned ODF villages and 733 triggered villages. The evaluation focused on the 5 evaluation criteria of the OECD / DAC (relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, sustainability) and the criterion of Equity, Gender and Human Rights, added to take into account norms and standards in UNICEF's evaluations.
